Since 2009, the Cavicchi Family has been a part of Team NDSS – they joined the cause and began fundraising when their nephew and cousin, Owen Cavicchi, was two years old. In August, Owen turned six years old and just started kindergarten in September. The whole family is very proud of him!
This year, Jake (age 15) and Sam (age 12) decided to keep the family tradition going by fundraising for NDSS while participating in the seven mile Falmouth Road Race in Falmouth, MA on August 12, 2012. The run went well for both of them after a very wet start in the pouring rain. The rain stopped in time for the race, although the humidity was really intense. Jake completed the race in 1:04 - a great nine mile pace! Sam finished in 1:17. Their Dad, Tim, also ran with them and finished in 1:03. Their mom, Robin, and sister Kyra, cheered from the sidelines, although both agreed that they would prefer to be running. There is always next year!
NDSS thanks the entire Cavicchi Family for choosing to make a difference for people with Down syndrome and for being advocates for the cause every August and all year long. We especially thank Jake and Sam for their leadership and the 37 donors who responded to their call for support. They raised an amazing $1,635!
