Danyelle

I never thought it would hit home. I used to see people with kids, sisters and brothers with Down syndrome and I knew what it was but never knew anyone personally who had it. On March 2 six years ago when I gave birth to a baby girl everything had seemed fine throughout the pregnancy. There were no problems and the delivery was right on time. After she was born I knew something was wrong because when she cried she turned blue. They said her oxygen was and they did a test on her. Two weeks later I found out she had Down syndrome. I thought, “Wow, what am I going to do?” Nothing but love her. I was told she wouldn’t walk until age four or talk until age three. Neither of those were true – she walked and talked at two years old. She has been through so much in her little six years and she has taught me so much I am so proud to be her mother. She has gotten academic awards in school and now she stays dry during the day. She is proud of herself for doing it and she is loved by all. When she was one year old she almost left my life when she coded six times but now she is fine. My Danni.
