My Dreams Came True: My Story of My First Film Role in Any Day Now

When I was 19 years old I would watch the High School Musical Movies on the Disney Channel, over and over. I thought it would be fun to do what all those people were doing that I was watching - acting, singing and dancing - on TV and at the movies. I decided I wanted to do that too. I told my mom, Justine, that it was my dream to act; I wanted to be on Disney Channel too. My mom found a school for me to study acting called Performing Arts Studio West, a school for adults with disabilities in Inglewood, CA. I liked it a lot and John Paizis, the school director, said that he would like to have me attend. My mom tried for a year to get funding for me to attend. Finally she gave me the great news; I was going to start attending PASW in early 2010! After being at school for about three weeks, there was a national audition for the movie Any Day Now. John told me that I could audition for the character Marco. We did a video audition and sent it to Travis Fine the director. A little while later he asked if I could meet him again and he directed me in a scene. When we finished, he kneeled in front of me and asked me if I wanted to make a movie with him. I said yes. I got so happy and emotional and I started to cry. Travis asked me if I was ok and I told him that my dream of my life has come true. We started shooting in the summer of 2011. I met Alan Cumming - he was so cool. My mom would watch his TV show and I had seen him in X-Men and Spy Kids. He was so nice to me and I couldn’t wait to start working with him. My first day on set was so awesome. I couldn’t believe that I was about to make my first movie. I was officially an actor and was going to be a movie star. I met Garret Dillahunt that day. I had seen him on Raising Hope before. He was really nice to me too. I still couldn’t believe that I was about to start working with both Alan and Garret. The whole time shooting the film was fun but sometimes we were on set for a lot of hours. Travis was the best director ever. He made me feel comfortable and I really liked him a lot. Everybody who worked on the film was great. I was sad when we were done because I didn’t want it to end. I was going to miss everyone. When Travis finished the movie, two more of my dreams came true. We went to New York and had a Red Carpet World Premiere. On December 14 the movie will be in the theaters. I can’t wait. I hope everyone goes to see Any Day Now!
